Dental Hygienist
Cathryn Carboon

Cathryn graduated as dux of the Associate Diploma of Dental Hygiene at Gilles Plains College of TAFE in Adelaide in 1989. She was honoured to receive the Oral B Foundation Award for excellence in preventive dentistry upon graduation. In 2010 Cathryn was awarded an Australian Rural and Remote Health Professional Scholarship and is currently undertaking post graduate studies in Health Promotion with La Trobe University.
Cathryn’s 22 year career in dental hygiene has covered many facets of dental hygiene care including experience in general practice, orthodontics, oral surgery, periodontics and special needs dentistry. Cathryn has practiced as a hygienist in Adelaide, Brisbane and Ballarat as well as Neuss (Germany) and Wellington (New Zealand). She has spent the last 12 years in private general practice with Dr Tony Goodison in Wangaratta.
Since 2006 Cathryn has presented oral health education modules as part of the Colgate professional education network at Melbourne, La Trobe and Charles Sturt Universities. Cathryn also speaks at dental and allied health conferences throughout Australia.
Cathryn has been a member of the Dental Hygienists’ Association of Australia since 1988; serving on executive committees in South Australia and Queensland. Currently she is the DHAA (Victorian Branch) librarian and alternate National Councilor. In 2007 Cathryn became the National Network Coordinator for Oral Health with SARRAH (Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health) and she holds a position on SARRAH’s Advisory Committee.
Cathryn is married, with three children – who all attend Wangaratta Primary School. Cathryn grew up on sheep and grain farm in the Riverina, NSW and enjoys the rural lifestyle Wangaratta offers.
Laura Morrison

Laura is a local Wangaratta girl who completed her Bachelor of Oral Health at LaTrobe University in Bendigo. Laura was already well known to the practice as her mother Gayle has been one of our friendly Dental Assistants for many years, as was her older sister Donna a few years ago, before she too went off to study Hygiene.
Taking on a dual role within the practice, Laura will be providing hygiene services for adults, as well as a Dental Therapist treatments (including cleans, check-ups, extractions of baby teeth and fillings) for our younger patients up to the age of 25.
Laura is available in our practice on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Fridays and spends her Thursdays working with the Central Hume (public) Dental Service.
